Most Asked Questions
Will it arrive safely?
Every shipment is professionally packed with custom foam inserts designed for fragile ceramics, lacquer, and bamboo. All shipments are fully insured for the declared value. If an object arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos and we will send a replacement or issue a full refund — no questions asked. See our Shipping Policy.
What if it breaks in transit?
We stand behind every shipment. If your object arrives broken: (1) Email hello@jiheobjects.com within 48 hours with photos of the damaged item and packaging. (2) We will arrange a replacement immediately (if in stock) or a full refund. (3) You do not need to return the broken piece — we may ask you to send photos for our insurance claim. For Obras-primas pieces that are one-of-a-kind or sold-out editions, we will issue a full refund plus a 10% goodwill credit toward a future purchase.
Are duties and taxes included?
No. We ship on a DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) basis. Duties and taxes are charged by your country's customs authority when the package arrives — not at checkout. US orders under $800 typically pay $0 (de minimis). EU, UK, Canada, and Australia may charge 10–25% in VAT/GST plus duties. See our detailed Duties & Taxes guide for a region-by-region breakdown.
Is this authentic?
Yes. Every object is sourced directly from the named maker or their studio. No wholesalers, no resellers. Every Masterwork arrives with a signed certificate of authenticity, an edition number, and a provenance record. See our Authenticity page for full details.
Can I return it?
Heritage Craft Collection: Yes — 30-day returns for unused items in original packaging. Masterworks: Final sale, except in cases of shipping damage or proven misrepresentation. Custom commissions: Final sale. See our Returns Policy for full details.
How do I know the object is authentic?
Every JIHE object is sourced directly from the artisan or studio. Each order arrives with The JIHE Book — a booklet documenting the maker, the origin, the material, and the process. For Masterworks, a signed certificate is included. See our Authenticity page for more.
Are these objects handmade?
Yes. Every object in our collection is made by hand. Some pieces involve machine-assisted steps (like clay preparation), but the forming, glazing, and finishing are all done by hand.
Why does my object look slightly different from the photo?
Handmade objects vary. Each piece is unique — the glaze may pool differently, the shape may vary by a few millimeters, and the color may shift slightly from batch to batch. This is not a defect. It is the signature of a handmade object.
How long does international shipping take?
International shipping takes 7–21 business days depending on destination. Express shipping (3–7 business days) is available at checkout. Domestic (China): 3–5 business days. See our Shipping page for details.
Is shipping insured?
Yes. All shipments are fully insured for the declared value. If an object arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos for a replacement or full refund.
What payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. For Masterworks orders above $2,000, we also accept international bank transfers. See our Payment & Security page for details.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal — both PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. We never see or store your card details. See our Payment & Security page.
Do you ship to my country?
We ship to over 80 countries. If your country is not listed at checkout, contact us at hello@jiheobjects.com and we will arrange shipping manually.
How do I care for my object?
Each object arrives with a care guide in The JIHE Book. General care instructions are also on our Care Guide page. For specific questions, contact us anytime.
What is The JIHE Book?
The JIHE Book is a hand-stitched booklet that accompanies every object. It answers seven questions: What is it? Where does it come from? How was it made? Why is it beautiful? How do you use it? Why this one? How do you care for it? See our dedicated page for more.
What is the difference between Heritage Craft and Masterworks?
Heritage Craft Collection objects are designed for daily use, priced $39–$500. Masterworks are limited, signed, or collectible works by recognised masters, priced $500–$5,000+. Both are handmade; the difference is in the maker's seniority, the edition size, and the collectibility.
Can I return a Masterworks piece?
Masterworks are final sale, except in cases of shipping damage or proven misrepresentation. This is because each piece is a limited edition — once sold, it cannot be restocked. If you have concerns about a Masterwork, contact us immediately at hello@jiheobjects.com.
Can I return a custom commission?
Custom commissions are final sale. They are made specifically for you and cannot be resold. We will keep you updated throughout the making process with photos and progress reports so there are no surprises.
Can I commission a custom piece?
For custom commissions and special orders, contact us at hello@jiheobjects.com with your request. We work with our artisans to accommodate custom pieces when possible.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Yes. All orders are packaged in a protective cotton sleeve with The JIHE Book. For gift orders, you can add a handwritten note at checkout — free of charge.
Do you offer payment plans for Masterworks?
Yes. For Masterworks orders above $1,000, we offer instalment plans via Klarna (where available) or split-payment (50% deposit, 50% before shipping). Contact us to arrange.
