A tall celadon vase with a narrow neck, designed for a single dramatic branch — a plum blossom, a pine twig, a dried lotus seed head. The glaze is the classic Longquan jade green.
Longquan celadon has been produced for over 1,700 years. The jade-green colour comes from iron oxide in the glaze, fired in a reduction kiln at 1,280°C. This vase was thrown in three sections and joined — a technique used for tall forms that requires decades of experience to perfect.
Place it in an entrance hall or beside a reading chair. Use it for one branch — a plum cutting in January, a cherry branch in April, a dried hydrangea in October. The height and narrow neck are designed to hold a single stem upright without support.
